Girl at the Rock Shows

Again, I must ask, where is the time going today? I was going to get through so many singles but it’s already three in the afternoon and I’ve only had time for one but I digress. Sometimes all you need is a new song to help change your mindset for the day and that’s exactly what “Hope and Romance” from The Jack Knives did for me today.

This song is so triumphant and uplifting. It reminds me of The Gaslight Anthem and Dave Hause in a perfect way. Lyrically, this song really hit me right in the gut. It was as if this band knew what words I needed to hear at this very moment and gave them to me with a sense of passion and emotion. Although this song seemed to strike an emotional chord with me today, it’s really not an emotional song. It’s just a good ol’ fashioned rock n’ roll song. It has words that will lift your heart and soul and an infectious beat and hook that will surely get stuck in your head upon first listen.

I don’t think I can put this band into better words than singer and guitarist Si Short: “It’s the project we have always wanted to do, no gimmicks, just guitars and meaningful lyrics that most people can probably relate to. These songs are real and honest. It’s just a collection of rock and roll love songs that take influence from my life experiences both good and bad. It’s also a little nod to my favorite bands and artists who got me through those times.”
