Happy Tuesday everyone! We are kicking off a song where, if you’re in the know, you know that the title says it all. If you don’t know, well, get ready for a little emo goodness this morning! Full disclosure, the song title “If I can’t scuba, then what has this all been about?” is actually a reference to a quote from Creed in The Office which, as a The Office, fan is just the icing on the cake.
margins’ song “If I can’t scuba, then what has this all been about?” came out a year ago but that doesn’t mean it won’t be new to you like it was to me. This song starts off beautifully and calmly. Gorgeous vocals with lush instrumentation draw you in before, after just about a minute, the song really hits its stride. The transition from beauty to power is stunning and drastic in this song which makes for an ear-catching song for sure. After the beginning, the song takes on more of a Hot Mulligan vibe to it. Angsty vocals that are drenched in emotion and steady instrumentation that only enhances that emotion are key to this song. Lyrically, this song continues with the beauty laid out at the beginning and, when mixed with the heaviness of everything going on, truly tells a story.
