The only information I got regarding “Life’s A Garden” by Big Mouth was a line of lyrics. “Sew my seeds but they never take. Grass grows under our feet anyway.” Intrigued? I was too so let’s take a dive into this single.
I was expecting something sweet and calm with the way this three minute twenty second song starts but, in under twenty seconds, you get a blast of energy and sound that can only be described as Big Mouth. With semi-raspy vocals, retro-tinged guitars and heavy-hitting drums, this song had me hooked right away. With an almost post-punk meets alt-rock meets The Strokes vibe to it, I loved how there were moments that reminded me of bands like Drug Church but others that left me lost for comparison. Long story short, this song is familiar yet so different all at the same time making it a truly dynamic listen that is more than worthy of your time and will absolutely get stuck in you head.
