I’m in one of those moods where I really don’t know what I want to listen to. My music ADD is off the charts and I have already listened to a little bit of everything from reggae to rap to pop. I can’t settle on just one style or one band which is fine but it’s making it hard to concentrate. This all changed the second I heard “Weaker Than Ever” from Dead Autumn.
I honestly didn’t think I was in the mood for something heavy until this song hit me. “Weaker Than Ever” is a perfect blend of all of the heavy things I like– post-hardcore, hardcore, metalcore, little hints of emo– the list goes on and on. Regardless of what subgenre you choose to latch onto when it comes to this track it will hook you. There’s this balance of beautiful melodies and harmonies with intense and brutal breakdowns that balances so well while keeping you on your toes. You never really know if the next beat of this track is going to be a tender or aggressive one but that’s the magic here. Deaf Autumn is from Italy so I honestly don’t know when I’ll ever have a chance to see them perform live but, if that chance arises, I will absolutely be there. “Weaker Than Ever” has passion and power behind it making it a song that just begs to be seen and experienced live.
