I don’t have a quirky opening for you yet today. It just feels like another Thursday, honestly. That’s not a bad thing. I’m getting stuff done and feeling positive and motivated so why question a good thing? Let’s just get into the day and get into some new music starting with “Colorblind” from Ikana.
“Colorblind” hit me like a truck. From the personal lyrics about struggles with mental health to the poignant instrumentation and composition, this song instantly made me feel everything in the blink of an eye. The best part about this song from Ikana is, although it will make you feel all the feelings, it will also give you an infectious beat and a hook that will surely be stuck in your head for the rest of the day. Blurring the lines between nostalgic emo and pop-punk with a bit of a modern twist reminding me a bit of Hot Mulligan, stylistically, “Colorblind” is right up my alley and probably yours too if you grew up in the emo/ pop-punk scene of the early 2000s. If you didn’t grow up in that scene and don’t like trips down nostalgia lane, this song is still worth a listen due to the power it brings and the emotion that Ikana so easily packs into this three minute long track.
