Although my Tuesday is getting ridiculously busy, it’s still going ridiculously smoothly (knock on wood). Instead of needing a song to vent to, I need a song that just keeps me going and acts as a bit of a kick in the butt to help me get through the slight afternoon slump I’m feeling. Thankfully for me, “I AM NOTHING” from Resistor does just that.
“I AM NOTHING” is aggressive right off the bat. You probably assumed that due to the capitalization of the song title but, all jokes inside, this song hits you instantly with a bites that infects you for the rest of this track. After a dynamic intro, the heaviness takes a pause, as if allowing you to catch your breath, before Resistor plunges you back into their world of insane intensity. Although, overall, this would be best classified as metal, there are some super cool elements scattered throughout the song that caught me off guard and left me intrigued. One of the most notable elements in this camp is the DJ-scratching that can be heard here and there. Sure, I know Slipknot has done that along with various other heavy groups but there’s something about the placement of these little intricacies that Resistor does so well. There are more intricacies and breaks throughout this song that definitely caught me but I’m not going to give away everything. If you like heavy music and, like me, are looking for a slight kick in the butt to keep going today, I highly suggest turning your volume up and jamming to “I AM NOTHING” from Resistor.
