Girl at the Rock Shows

Cover two shows on a Sunday night before you have a super short week due to a festival in Las Vegas, they said. It’ll be super fun and won’t lead to a super stressful Monday, they said. Okay, nobody said any of that. I knew that covering two shows on Sunday night would lead to a pretty painful Monday but, what can I say, I’m addicted to live music and, when given the chance, I will also go to all of the shows. Yeah, today has been a bit rough and I’m already super behind on all of my jobs due to trying to get my blog posts up but that’s not going to stop me from having a fantastic Monday. How do I know it’s going to be fantastic even with my current out-of-control stress level? Because I’m starting it off with a new song from We Demand Parachutes.

If you are not listening to this band already, I need you to stop everything and show them some love. Hailing from Boston and Brooklyn, We Demand Parachutes is a band I have been following for years and, although everything they put out is amazing, I feel like they are really hitting their stride lately and their single “WDP40” is proof of that. I love the optimism that’s in this song. That optimism can be felt in this song just with the emotion that the band presents every line with but it can also be felt in the words. With the hook of, “Just get high and look for better weather”, I mean, come on, what’s not to love? I love that, although optimistic, there’s also an idea of realism that comes through in that line and the rest of the words that make up this amazing song. Add the catchy just straight-up rock ‘n’ roll vibe of this band and you are left with that perfect song that will both make you feel cozy and warm but also give you a little kick in the ass to seize the day and get your stuff done.
