My mood just keeps going down today. I’m stressed, exhausted, and I think the hangover from last night is finally hitting me right where it counts but I don’t have time to slow down. I don’t have time to stop. I need something to pick my energy back up and that’s exactly what “Above The Earth” from Skøv has done.
A Polish punk metal band from Wroclaw, Skøv has a very distinct and very powerful sound. “Above The Earth” is a striking sound that is only made more striking by the dramatic and highly artistic video that comes with it. Before I go on, I just have to say that you have to watch and hear this video at the same time. I feel like the video brought a sense of drama and power to this song that may be a wee bit lost if you just listen to it alone. That being said, as a stand alone song, this “Above The Earth” absolutely hits hard. Aggressive vocals, chaotic yet well thought out instrumentation, Skøv truly has a perfect blend of all things heavy and all things good.
“Above the Earth” is Skøv’s first single since their 2021 album, ‘Family Feast’. I really hope that this single is a sign that we could be expecting a new album from the band. Until then, I plan on digging into their fairly extensive discography because this song definitely has me hooked.
