Toddy – “2 On the Go” – Girl at the Rock Shows

I don’t have a super fun intro for you right now. It’s a Tuesday morning. It’s pretty gloomy outside here in Minneapolis and I would much rather still be in bed than at work but here I am– trying my best to get caught up and get crap done including sharing out the insane backlog of singles I have to share with you so why waste time on trying to figure out a quirky intro? Let’s just get into the day starting with “2 On the Go” from Toddy.

Okay, hear me out when it comes to this song. I know this is way more pop than I typically go for but this song and video instantly had me hooked. It’s catchy without being commercial. There’s something almost snarky about everything in this track which obviously speaks to my snarky soul. Vocally, I was reminded a bit of acts like Kate Nash and Lady Gaga with this song. There’s something slightly classical and operatic about the vocals and the way that contrasts the more upbeat pop laden beat had me so intrigued. Add this super quirky and fun music video and you are left with a song that has far too many layers for me to really dig into. Long story short, “2 On the Go” is a fun song and Toddy is definitely an act to watch.
