“Scream Crying” from AntiSocial Surf Club is now the second song that I’ve shared out today with political undertones. Honestly, I am not a super political person. Okay, that’s wrong. I am but I don’t always like it to seep into my music as I use music as an escape from everything else. That being said, this world is so, pardon my French, fucked these days that it’s hard to separate the politics from the music and I am just so thankful to have bands like AntiSocial Surf Club that have songs that align with my own morals and thoughts.
As the band puts it, “This song expresses our frustration with high cost of living, trying to jam every little minute of living into the cracks of a 40-50 hour work week, and constantly navigating a river of misinformation that flows directly into the phone in the palm of our hands.” If those aren’t things you agree with, well, lucky you but you may want to get out from under the rock you’re living beneath. Honestly, the thoughts laid out in this song are things that I have been struggling with a lot lately so I felt that “Scream Crying” was truly speaking to my soul. On top of the message of this track, I absolutely love, how every couple of seconds, the song seems to change. It’s a change in the vibe, the speed, the power, really, everything and I love how dynamic that makes this two and a half minute track feel. “Scream Crying” is a raise your fist kind of track but also a smile from ear to ear kind of bop. Either way you interpret it, I promise you will thoroughly enjoy this anthemic track.
