Waiting For Summer – “These Words” (Natasha Bedingfield Cover

Okay, I know I’ve talked about how I’m not typically one for cover songs yet, here I am, sharing two in one day. The truth is, sometimes cover songs go over my head and that’s the case when it comes to this cover of Natasha Bedingfield’s “These Words” from Waiting For Summer. The truth is, I don’t know the original so I heard this song as an original and Waiting For Summer had me hooked within seconds.

Waiting For Summer is a German pop-punk band with a classic sound. Cover or not, their style comes through loud and clear throughout this three and a half minute long song. It’s fun and bright with a serious bop behind it but that doesn’t mean it’s lacking a sense of heart or passion. Although I don’t know the original track, I am somewhat familiar with Natasha Bedingfield’s work and overall sound and I know that this cover is very much a step away from the original. This just goes to show the creativity behind Waiting For Summer and should be a reason to check out this band alone. Whether you like this track because you love the original or because you’re just looking for that sunny pop-punk bop to soundtrack your afternoon, “These Words” from Waiting For Summer is the track for you.
