Girl at the Rock Shows

I’ve talked about it before and really don’t hide it, but just in case you didn’t know, I’m a theatre kid. I did a lot of musical theatre stuff growing up and love going to a theatre performance every chance I get, so naturally, I was drawn to “Theatre” from Ari Bose purely because of the name of this track. Although I figured I was going to get something super dramatic from this song, I don’t think I was ready for just how powerful and moving this track was going to be.

As Ari puts it, “This is the saddest song in the world but gets a lil screamy at the end.” It’s as simple as that. “Theatre” starts off fairly quiet and oh so full of emotion and pain, but as the song goes on, that quietness and that pain turn to boisterous angst. It’s perfect. The beginning of this track was giving me The Rocket Summer vibes with the way the vocals dance over intricate instrumentation. By the end of the song, “Theatre” was giving me angsty Say Anything vibes with heart-on-sleeve-styled grit and an insane amount of heart. Come for the nostalgia, stay for the emotion; “Theatre” from Ari Bose is a wild rollercoaster ride of a song, so buckle up and enjoy!
