Girl at the Rock Shows

People have no patience today. I mean, that’s not different from any other day but, for some reason, it’s just really irking me today and I’ve been set off by countless emails where people just have zero patience or feel like I’m not doing enough for them quickly enough. I’m feeling defeated and honestly ready to just walk away from a few of the projects I work on daily. I know that’s not the right move right now and I know I’m just stressed and tired but, here we are. Enter: “Defend Me” from Superdime. To say that this track has saved me at this moment would be an understatement.

Although this song is about not feeling loved back and the desperation of wanting to be loved, I feel like the words spoke to my soul in an uncanny way. Take those well thought-out and laid-out words and mesh them with the upbeat riffs throughout this four minute and twelve second song and you are left with a song that is absolutely irresistible. There’s a lot of energy in this song but also an interesting break in it that caught me off guard but in a good way. I could feel emotions escaping my body, mind and soul, throughout the first almost two minutes before the break. During the break, I could feel my body just relaxing as I took deep breaths and waited to plunge back into Superdime’s world. I love the way the song ends the way it begins– with a sense of strength and power. Really, this rollercoaster ride of a song comes off more as a leisurely drive through your own head and it’s a ride that I think we should all take every once in awhile.
