Girl at the Rock Shows

It’s another gloomy day up here in Minneapolis but I won’t let it get to me. Typically, I loved gloomy weather but something about this current stretch has me feeling lazy and exhausted. That being said, it’s Monday and I have a full week of things to get done so, again, I won’t let it get to me and, instead will distract myself with some new music starting with “No Way Out” from Hauntress.

Hauntress doesn’t waste any time pulling you into their world with this track. Right off the bat, it hits you with a barrage of drums and guitars that cause a sense of tension and slight chaos in this song until things even out ever so slightly. This track is the title track off of their upcoming EP and it definitely has me wanting to hear more. Beyond the wall of sound that hits you are the lyrics. Like the delivery of said lyrics, there’s a slight eerie and creep factor here that instantly had me stuck. Sure, it helps that this song ended up being about the allure of cultism and I spent the majority of my weekend watching documentaries on cults but, beyond that, there was just something so captivating here. If you like Queens of the Stone Age, this song is definitely for you as I can plainly hear the likeness to that band but, even as someone who doesn’t particularly like QOTSA, I thoroughly enjoyed checking out “No Way Out” from Hauntress.
