Girl at the Rock Shows

Sometimes I think I feel music a bit deeper than others. It’s hard to put into words and there are days where the only thing that keeps me going is music. Obviously, this isn’t hard to see. My entire life is music but it’s hard to explain that to people. It’s as if, no matter what the word choice, I just can’t convey the importance of music to them. This is one of the many reasons I was caught by “Synapse” from Beast Killer. As the band says, “This song is about the desire to feel that special something you heard in music when you were younger and chasing it still…” and that, to me, is a beautiful message behind a track.

Not only does this Cleveland, Ohio based band have a message to share, they have a sound that will knock you right on your butt. This song and Beast Killer’s sound in general balances between something chaotic and something powerful. There are moments of this song where you feel a strong intensity leaning a bit into the metal scene but other moments where you get more a straight-up skate punk vibe. It’s a cool blend that ends up filling this song with a sense of power while staying catchy. It wasn’t until this song was wrapping up that I realized that Beast Killer is just a duo. This just adds a sense of flawless perfection to this song and definitely has Beast Killer on my “need to keep my eye on” list of bands.
