I always try to listen to a song all the way through before forming an opinion on it. Sometimes it’s hard to that because there are definitely some tracks out there where I know within the first few seconds that it isn’t going to be for me. Even if I know within the first few seconds that it is going to be for me, I still listen to the whole thing because you just never know what may be hidden in a song. Case in point? “LAST OCTOBER” from WLDCHLD and Carter David.

This is one of those songs where I was hooked right away. I love the energy and power that comes with this track and resonates throughout the nearly five minutes that it lasts. I understand that the almost nasally vocals may not be for everyone but, as someone who is obsessed with Blink 182, it felt familiar and comfortable to me. Even though I just reference Blink, I don’t think that’s a great comparison when it comes to trying to explain the style of this song. Sure, it’s pop-punk but it has an almost 90s skate punk edge to it reminding me ever so slightly of bands like Lagwagon and Guttermouth. Although the sound and overall vibe of this track is great, it’s what happens right around the three minute mark that really had me sold. I’m not going to give it away but, seriously, listen to this song all the way through for a huge game changer!
