It’s one of those days where I’m just crabby. It’s not for any particular reason but I just woke up on the wrong side of the bed still exhausted and with a stuffy head. I’m not sick, I think I’m just run down or it’s all just in my head both literally and figuratively. Long story short, I need a song that will turn my mood around and get me ready to take on the day and get everything and anything done that comes my way. Thankfully for me, the first song I have to share with ya’ll today is “The Last Song I’ll Write About You” from Midnight Swim and it definitely turned my frown upside down.
I’ll be honest, the lyrics of this song didn’t hit me super hard just because of my current headspace but I truly liked the theme of closure after a divorce. It’s clear and obvious but, at the same time, it’s not. Midnight Swim is one of those acts that so easily can write lyrics about one particular instance but, in reality, those words could apply to so many other moments and “The Last Song I’ll Write About You” is proof of that. Add the upbeat and energetic vibe that comes through loud and clear here and you are left with a deep song that will make you feel things while also making you want to get up and dance. Yes, I understand all of this is a big ol’ contradiction but that’s the genius behind Midnight Swim and this song in particular so, if you think I’m crazy with the way I’m trying to explain this, I highly suggest you just check out “The Last Song I’ll Write About You” from Midnight Swim for yourself.
