Sometimes all it takes is a catchy chorus to really hook you into a specific song and a band in general. That’s what hooked me at first when it comes to “My Design” from Kudre but, the more I listen to this song, the more I realize that this song is so much more than just it’s powerful chorus.
As Kudre puts it, “My Design serves as an honest reflection on the inherent imperfections of the human condition.” I honestly don’t know if that’s the vibe I would have gotten from this song without that direct quote from the band but, honestly, I don’t really care what this song is about. The rises and falls, use of dynamics, and all of the little intricacies behind “My Design” is what really matters to me. You can feel moments of pure desperation in this song and I love how they are juxtaposed by the infectiously catchy chorus. Call this song punk, call it alt-rock, call it a blend, call it whatever you want. “My Design” from Kudre will absolutely have you hooked.
