It’s going to be a long day. My schedule is completely full of work and things but that’s okay. I’m feeling rejuvenated after a night off last night which was spent cruising around on a fancy yacht in celebration for my aunt’s birthday. Long story short, I’m ready to take on the day and ready for some new music to match this energy.
I love the way that Midnight Special kicks off their song “Soft Touch”. This solo project instantly pull you in with powerful vocals and minimalistic instrumentation that dabbles between hard rock, alt-rock, and even a slight post-hardcore edge. As the three minute songs moves on, you see Midnite Special’s unique sound unfold right before your eyes and it’s something amazing. The composition of this song is full of ups and downs that, although they fit so perfectly and make sense in retrospect, almost caught me off guard the first time I heard it. This is the second track to Midnite Special’s latest EP and is Liam Shevill’s (the real name behind the Midnite Special moniker) favorite. I get it and also want to hear everything else Liam has ever done because I truly find this track so powerful and flawlessly good.
