I’m back from another whirlwind of a weekend. It was a weekend spent out of town to celebrate the 40th birthday of a good friend of mine. It was truly amazing and the his face when he realized that a whole team of Twin Cities friends had driven out to Fargo to celebrate him was priceless. My head is still buzzing from the weekend but it’s time to get back into the normal grind of the week so let’s get it started off right with some new music, shall we?

“The Last Stand” from The Guilty Parties starts off strong with blaring horns and a perfect ska tone. Although a super upbeat song, the message behind the track is a bit of a daunting one. It’s about all of those dreams we all had as kids and how, now, as adults, those dreams seem so out of reach. It’s a political song of sorts talking about how, even though you may work your butt off, you may never hit all of those dreams and goals you had when younger but, the upbeat energy of the song acts as almost a comforting element as if to say that it’s all okay and you’re not alone. Whether you want to get wrapped up in the lyrics or just get lost in the fun and playful energy of this ska track, The Guilty Parties’ “The Last Stand” will make you feel something and it’s the perfect way to get your week started.
