Girl at the Rock Shows

My day has been going pretty dang good for a Thursday. I’m getting a lot done and, although nowhere near caught up, I feel good about things but I also feel that afternoon slump hitting with a sense of vengeance. At this point, my eyes are having trouble staying open and all I can think about is the post-work pre-show nap I’m going to take when I get home. I’m not there yet though. I still have an hour before that happens so I need something to perk me up and help me finish the first part of my day strong.

“Immutable Stone” from Ghostbird was just what I needed. This song is heavy and has a sense of depth that is so easy to get lost in but, at the same time, there’s something comforting and light about it. From heart felt vocals to instrumentation that may as well be some of the music beautiful lyrics you’ve ever heard purely due to the amount of emotion that comes with each note, “Immutable Stone” breathed a sense of life back into while also giving me a chance to give into my urge to just close my eyes for a couple of minutes. I love that I was able to find such a sense of peace in this song without it being a snooze fest. Truly, “Immutable Stone” is super far from a snooze fest yet why did I find it so comforting. I honestly don’t know that I’ll be able to answer that but I can tell you that I’m not going to question a good thing. Go ahead and turn up the volume, press play on “Immutable Stone” from Ghostbird, and just get lost for a couple of minutes.
