Last night was not my favorite night of all time. Honestly, it was a pretty crappy one and, although I’m getting a lot done today and feeling energized, something about the bad taste that last night left in my mouth is lingering and I need a way to get it out. You know what that means– time for a slightly more aggressive and intense song.
“Sex Education” is raw and honest. That’s the first thing that struck me here. Even if you’re too old to understand the words flying by in this furious track, there’s no denying that you can feel the emotion that comes attached to every single word and beat. I really like how the vocals lead this track with the instrumentation being slightly hollow but still grabbing your attention. Typically when I refer to instrumentation being hollow, it’s a bad thing but, for this song and Truth Grip’s sound in general, it’s genius and is what sets this band apart from so many other acts situated in the metalcore scene. Hardcore influence, endless amounts of rage and angst– “Sex Education” from Truth Grip is the perfect song for you if you need to blow off a wee bit of steam today.
