Everything that I got in conjunction with “Ironía” from Niñas Niño was in Spanish other than two phrases. Those phrases were:

“Once you label me, you negate me” – Sören Kierkegaard.

“No tree, it is said, can grow to heaven unless its roots are in hell.” – Carl Jung.

I can’t tell you what those two phrases have to do with the song but I can tell you that the beauty I felt from those statements is reflected in this powerful new single from Niñas Niño. I may not be able to understand the words within this song but I do understand the fiery passion that comes attached to them. Stylistically, “Ironía” splits the difference between skate punk and alt rock so perfectly. There are moments of anthemic prowess that make you want to raise your fists but those are followed up with moments of spiteful angst that make you want to pound said fist into a wall (or at least just get a little bit more aggressive with it). At the same time, there’s this odd and somewhat calming alt-rock vibe that extends throughout this song that left me confused but also intrigued at the same time. Long story short, “Ironía” from Niñas Niño is one of those songs that you just have to hear for yourself. It’s also one of those songs that proves that you don’t have to understand the words to truly feel a song.
