Girl at the Rock Shows

I’m not sure what I’m in the mood to listen to. My day started off with my typical generic indie-pop playlist and now I’m completely lost in a Myspace era pop-punk playlist. Although I’m having fun bopping around to songs I haven’t heard in years (shout out to Vendetta Red and June), it’s not hitting the spot light I want it to. Maybe “Ghosts of Indiana” from Atomic Pines will set me on the right path as far as what to listen to for the rest of the day.

“Ghosts of Indiana” is pure moody grit and it’s perfect. This song is dark but there are electrifying parts scattered throughout it as if to make sure you don’t become strictly mesmerized by the track. It’s very post-punk with aggressive vocals and clashing instrumentation to match it yet there’s beauty within this controlled chaos. Hailing from Seattle, Washington, Atomic Pines has that sound that begs to be seen live. Sure, just sitting here and listening to “Ghosts of Indiana” is great and it’s absolutely breathing life into my exhausted soul but I feel like something is lost in translation and this is a song that I just absolutely need to see live. The movement in this track is just as amazing as the energy. I see the parts where I would flail my limbs followed by moments of swiping my hair out of my eyes and catching my breath before going back it. I’m not sure when Atomic Pines will make their way to the northern Midwest but I know I’m impatiently waiting for it.
