Honestly, I don’t have time to do a review right now. I just had two giant projects get dumped on my desk at the same time and my computer is going slow as ever. Long story short, I need to get my big girl job stuff done but I’m struggling and nearing the edge of slipping into that dreaded rut of stress and overwhelming doom. Before I completely fall into that, I want to take a breather, check out a new song, and see if helps reset my mood.
“She’s a Rose” instantly put a smile on my face. This pop-punk perfect jam is, well, perfect. Think Blink 182 with a slight more Less Than Jake energy and a little bit more of a Paramore vibe to the vocals while also have a little grit and you can get close to what hits you with this track. It’s high energy and bouncy in a way that will take away any stresses you may be facing right now. I love the lyrics of this track as they are a relatable but I feel like me saying that this is a pop-punk-perfect song tells you that already. There’s a determined energy that happens towards the end of this song that made it the perfect kick in the butt for me to snap out of my rut and get back to work. As the band puts it, “It’s the sound of trying to claw your way out, bruised but still breathing, ready to figure out what’s next.” Yeah, this song is hitting me hard and perfectly. Check it out and show Free Friends, High Wire, and Ben DeHan some love!
