I know I literally just shared “(Akira) Bike Slide” from Dear Season with you yesterday and I don’t like to share back to back singles from the same band just because there are so many acts out there that deserve your attention, but here we are and another new track from Dear Season is the only way I want to start my Thursday.
“Twentyone”, like “(Akira) Bike Slide” is full of this undeniable and ultra-powerful sense of emotion. Comparing the two tracks, this one definitely leans into the more beautiful, sensitive, and tender side of this West Chester, PA band but, don’t misconstrue that to mean that this song lacks energy or movement. There’s this odd circular pattern that I got from this song that I just could not quite put my finger on or really find the right words to describe but it had me hooked and added this sense of dynamics to this track that was truly something magical. Add those signature Dear Season lyrics that hit right to the core and bring you a sense of comfort while also calling you out in this uncanny way (yeah, I felt personally attacked by some of the words in this song but in a good way), and you are left with a song that will leave you stunned and wanting so much more from this group.
