FELIN – “Riot” – Girl at the Rock Shows

I would like to know where the weekend went. I feel like I was just sitting here at my desk on Friday, blinked my eyes, and now we are back on an early Monday morning. Although I’m far from ready for the new week to start, I’m optimistic and going to do my best to make it a good one filled with productive days and amazing music. Kicking off the amazing music portion of my week is FELIN with their new-ish single “Riot”.

I’ve been watching FELIN ever since I heard their song “STFU (Shut The F**k Up) back in May. I was struck by the attitude and snark in that song and love how it continues into this newer track from the Swedish pop-punk artist. Although just as full of attitude and snark, “Riot” takes a different approach bringing the spotlight to mental health struggles. I love the resilient power that comes with every every line. I feel like it drags the point of this song home in a perfect way. As FELIN puts it, “What if we’re all at war with our brains, feeling less than ok?” This song begs that question and answers it with this feeling that feeling that way is okay and all you can do is grow and learn from those moments when we are left questioning anything and everything. Add a catchy chorus that will make you want to pump your fist and silky smooth vocals mashed with pop-punk leaning instrumentation and you are left with at true jam that will make you feel and make you want to dance at the same time.
