Girl at the Rock Shows

I’ll be honest. I’m crabby. I’m hungover and exhausted. I’m absolutely disappointed and, quite frankly, disgusted with the majority of this country right now. I won’t get super into it because this is not a political blog by any means but, come on, America– what in the actual f*$&? Regardless of my current mood or anything like that, life doesn’t slow down or stop of anything so it’s back to the grind and back to trying to keep my head from wandering into the dark corners of my thoughts right now. Yup- you guessed it- this all means it’s time to kick the day off with a solid singly and I mean it when I say solid!

All music tells a story at the end of the day. It’s something that I really like about music as it adds a sense of escapism to the comfort that I find in music. That being said, some songs hide the story and the movement of the story within them. Not Mavis in their new single “Holy Shit, I’m Sorry”. The composition of this song is absolutely brilliant. You can feel separated movements throughout this four minute song but it also blends together so well to create a song that will surely hook you. Stylistically, this is very post-punk leaning with pop-punk tendencies. It’s modern punk as it’s finest from a band that has a distinct but approachable sound. Throughout this song, you will feel a sense of longing, find a sense of belonging, and end the track with a sense of triumphant energy. Rollercoaster ride of a song? Sure but I promise that “Holy Shit, I’m Sorry” from Mavis is worth the ups and downs so buckle up and hit play!
