It’s hard to believe that it’s already almost Thanksgiving. I plan on spending some of my nights this week auditioning different kinds of stuffing so I can figure out the perfect one to serve with my classic Friendsgiving feast. This is not at all a complaint. I’m also starting to plan my shopping list for Black Friday. Although I’m not a huge shopper, there are some things that I have my eyes on now that I have a live-in boyfriend full time and his two kids part-time. We just need some other things in the house (even though the boyfriend would probably say that we need nothing) and I’m hoping they go on sale on Black Friday. Thoughts of Thanksgiving and Black Friday make it a perfect time to check out “Black Friday” from Glitched.
“Black Friday” is the final track from Glitched’s most recent LP but, don’t worry, this is just a lead up to their new EP. It’s not like I’m going to get you hooked on this band and then they’re never going to release anything else. This single is perfectly punchy and punk but with a sheer of perfection over it. Somehow this song feels both DIY and gritty while also coming off as perfectly mixed and mastered. I love that and feel like it goes to show just how solid this group is as a whole band. Hailing from San Jose, CA, you definitely get a slight California surfer accent throughout this song but that also just lends to the somewhat pop-punk leaning vocal style. All in all, this is one of those songs that really doesn’t need an explanation or anything like that. You just have to hear it, get lost in the energy of it all, and then inevitably fall in love with Glitched while answering their “Am I having a good time” question with a solid “YES!”.
