I don’t have any super cool or fun intro for you right now but that’s okay. Honestly, after the Monday I had, a nice chill and calm day is all I could ask for and, knock on wood, that’s exactly what today has been thus far. I know I have a long way to go and there’s still plenty of time for my day to turn into fire after fire and headache after headache but, for now, I’ll just enjoy this feeling of peace that is only emphasized by “I Bet Heaven Isn’t Real At All” from Palejoy.
Palejoy is one of those bands with a very DIY ethos and that comes through loud and clear in their new single “I Bet Heaven Isn’t Real At All”. This song is jam packed with raw emotion but also with a sense of power that is more than enough to knock you on your butt or wake you up (depending on what way you want to go with it). Above the crashing and intense instrumentation are vocals that will make your heart swoon. They are smooth and clear yet come with this side offering of darkness that is highlighted by the way the vocalist strains with certain words. You get a range of emotions throughout this four-minute song ranging from sadness to anger to grief so, really, no matter what’s going on in your head right now, there’s something in this song from this Aberdeen trio that will speak to you soul.
