Girl at the Rock Shows

I just checked out my Spotify Wrapped for this year and, as suspected, I’m living in the past. My stats and more played songs/ artists of the year were mostly old-school emo and pop-punk bands. Although I’m not surprised by this, I am a bit bummed as I like to think I listen to a lot of new stuff. That being said, there’s no denying the comfort that reliving my youth gives me which is kind of what “Wax Lips” from Sunny Daze & the Weathermen is about.

This energetic garage-punk song is about the simplicity of youth but it comes with a sense of grit and attitude that can not be ignored. Combining everything from garage rock to an almost more eclectic post-punk sound, “Wax Lips” will instantly have you wanting to punch holes in the wall but in a good and non destructive way (as if that’s even possible). I love the energy that comes through here and the almost retro-tinged vocals that add that signature grit that makes Sunny Daze & the Weathermen a band to absolutely keep your eyes on. “Wax Lips” is the newest single from this band’s upcoming sophomore album which will be out in late in 2025 so, if you like what you hear, make sure to follow this amazing band for updates and more singles from that highly anticipated album while also spending some time with the first album, ‘Sunny Daze For President’ which is already out.
