Something about the band name and the song title on this one just made me smile. I can’t really tell you why but just reading both things brought me so much joy that I couldn’t resist checking out the song and, even though I got no background about the track or the band, I instantly got hooked into Terribly Happy’s world.
This song has such a perfect blend of nostalgia and modern emo sensibilities. It starts with an almost Grad Life vibe to it before going into a more full sound similar to that of PUP or Origami Angel. The constantly moving guitars create a dazzle to this song that is only enhanced by the charm of the raw lyrics that float above it all. Much like my day has been, “Allie, Total Blam Blam!” is a roller coaster of a ride. One minute there’s a super fun and boppy little lick and then, out of nowhere, you get a burst of angst in the vocals. Terribly Happy keeps you on your toes throughout the entirety of this three song track and will leave you wanting a lot more. Have no fear– this band just dropped a thirteen-song album so there’s more to be found out there!
