I love the thoughts that this band name brings to mind. “We Are Imaginary”. Just think about that. I’m not sure about you but, every once in awhile, I start to question the meaning of life and what this thing we call life really is. It’s a deep thought but what if we are all just part of some weird game and we are characters that are not in control of our own action. Again, deep, and, quite honestly, a windy road that leads to an existential crisis but I like it and love how this song seems to have just as twisty of a road as those thoughts do.
“Pinkish Hue” is not about the meaning of life but it is a song that explores the way that love can go from being so vibrant to something a bit more faded over time. That may not sound like the most positive of lyrical content but what We Are Imaginary does with this story is truly powerful and beautiful. There’s an ebb and flow to this song that shows that dazzle coming and going as memories come up and fade throughout the story. It’s a hypnotic and dazzling track that showcases this band’s patience when it comes to the beat and sounds but it also shows that this group has a flare for the dramatic. This fuzzy track comes off as purely romantic at times and, at others, fiercely angsty making it the perfect track for those days where you don’t know how to feel or what to feel but know you want to feel something.
