I’ve never been on a legit Ghost Tour before. I’ve gone on plenty of my own unofficial Ghost Tours but I’ve never done a “real one”. I would love to do it at some point in my life but, I’m not sure when it will happen. This has nothing to do with the amazing song “Performative” from Ghost Tour other than the band name but welcome to my mind on a Friday. I’m a bit all over the place but songs like this one are helping me stay motivated and on track (even though it may not seem like it with this intro).
This twinkly song hooks you in so many ways. A triumphant chorus met with a slight sense of existential dread with some of the verses and a slight sense of angst dazzled among it all, “Performative” had me thinking of so many bands of years gone by and current rockers but I never quite landed on the perfect comparison. Say Anything, Petey, Jimmy Eat World, Origami Angel– the list goes on and on but that list makes no sense until you hear the unique blend and distinctive style that is Ghost Tour and that’s what makes it so perfect. I love how this song almost comes off as a whisper but with an undeniable strength behind it. The vocals are soft and sweet but the powerful instrumentation behind said vocals makes this song a true banger.
