We could all be a bit better and, no, that’s not up for debate. Whether it’s the way you treat other people, the planet, or even yourself, we all have things to improve on. Peng McErlean’s new song “I Just Want To Be A Better Person” is an excellent reminder of that.

I was hoping I wouldn’t have to copy/ paste the words sent to me with the single but, honestly, I can’t think of a better way to describe this quick little two minute bop. It starts with a folk-punk styled intro before going into a song that can only be described as, “if NOFX wrote a 5 Seconds of Summer song”. Intrigued, aren’t you? You get the NOFX vibe from the instrumentation in this song– most specifically the drumming. It’s fast and ferocious but the vocals definitely have more of a commercial pop-punk vibe to them. These two elements come together to create an unforgettable sound that will both leave you wanting more and give you something to talk and think about.
