Girl at the Rock Shows

I spent my weekend at a hardcore festival. It was amazing, and I loved every single band, but I’m ready for a change from angsty and angry music. I need something a bit more upbeat, a bit more bouncy, to help get me through this super sleepy Monday, and Pretty Lucky has just the thing in their new song “I Take SKA”.

As you may have assumed, this is a ska song. It’s as simple as that, and sometimes simple is best. With a skate-punk aura, the song is highlighted by boisterous horns. It’s an upbeat jam that feels like California sunshine hitting your skin. Lyrically, this song is about taking ska. When you don’t know what to do, don’t know how to feel, or don’t feel anything at all, Pretty Lucky urges you to “take ska” and, honestly, I think they’re onto something with this. I’m exhausted. I’m going on about six hours of sleep for the entire weekend, and everything hurts in my body and my mind, but this song seemed to fix everything within just a few seconds.
