Not quite sure where time is going today but it’s lunch time which means it’s time to share a new song. Okay, the fact that it’s lunch time has nothing to do with sharing a new song but I’m ready for a new band to dig into for today so let’s take a listen to “Staring Into the Sun” from Becoming Bristol.
Becoming Bristol is a four-piece alternative rock band from Seattle, WA. Although I agree that, overall, they are an alt-rock band, I feel like their single “Staring Into the Sun” brings a bit more of a pop-punk influence to the table than that description would lead you to believe. This song is so full of an upbeat energy that it’s hard to believe the depth in the lyrics behind this song. I’m not just talking about the depth that comes with the gang vocals provided by twenty friends of this band (not kidding– they had twenty of their friends record the gang vocals on the bridge of this song), I’m talking about the depth of the words and storyline. A song about finding meaning in the suffering, I loved the emotions that this made me feel while also giving me the burst of energy I so badly needed to continue getting through my Monday.
