Girl at the Rock Shows

A first song from a band can tell you a lot about said band. Maybe it sets the tone for a theme that will last throughout the band’s career or maybe it will leave you with more questions about their style than answers. It could hook you right away or you could breeze right by it and not give it a second listen. Well, “Not About It” is the first single from SUNBURNT and it not only set the tone for what I think is to come from this band in the future, but it also had me hooked within the first couple of seconds.

One of things that the band wrote to me about themselves is that the trio tries to put a little sunshine into everyday life’s ups and downs and I think that’s the perfect way to describe this song. Although it is mostly a pop-punk perfection kind of song, there’s something bright and cheery about it that really stood out to me. It’s definitely leaning a bit more pop than punk which is typically not my thing but, as soon as I hit play on “Not About It”, I couldn’t help but let a grin stretch from ear to ear. If you’re having a rough day or just needed that little boost of dopamine, SUNBURNT is the band for you and, if this debut single is any indication of what’s to come from the band, I think it’s safe to assume we can expect big big things.
