I’m in a weird mood today. My playlists has gone from pop-punk to grindcore with even some instrumental mediation music thrown in there so I figured now is a good of time as any to check out “Skull” from Tiblinski.
The lead single for a short collection of songs called ‘Negativity’, “Skull” instantly caught my ears and heart with the sheer power that comes through within the first few seconds. Stylistically, this one is a bit weird but in all of the right ways. If you’re a fan of Amigo the Devil, you’ll love this. It definitely has that murderfolk vibe behind it but, overall, feels just a bit brighter than your typical murderfolk. In the small bio about the band that I was given, they mention that Tiblinski is “dedicated to the bittersweet things in life” and I feel like that description also goes for this song. It’s a sweet feeling but, as you start to hone in on the lyrics, you realize just how dark it is. That delicate balance is pulled off so effortlessly by Tiblinski in this song so sit back and enjoy the strange dichotomy that is “Skull”.
