I’ve been feeling defeated when it comes to my booking company lately. Things just haven’t been going right and I feel like I’m kind of getting it from all angles. When people have been asking me how it’s been going, my go to response is just saying that I feel like more of a punching bag than a business owner when it comes to that project so it felt almost too timely for Television Supervision’s song “Punching Bag” to come across my desk.
“Punching Bag” is an infectiously catchy track with an undeniable sense of raw angst and energy. The first comparison that comes to mind when checking out this two and a half minute long song is definitely Blink 182. From the ting of the drumset to the vocal styling, this track just screams Blink 182 but it’s also so much more than that. There’s a sense of stubborn resilience throughout this song that comes through in both the lyrics and instrumentation that I think we could all use a little bit more of in our lives. Although there’s that feeling and that standard pop-punk angst and rage throughout this song, there’s something super upbeat as well making this one of those tracks that just one listen isn’t enough for. So go ahead. Let this song play again, and again, and again, and again…
