Girl at the Rock Shows

I know I started today with something heavy and intense so me sharing “chapstick” from autofictions is definitely a curve ball but I like that about sharing music with you all. If you don’t like one single I share out, come back in a couple of hours for something completely different.

Whereas the first song of the day was brutal and insane, “chapstick” is seemingly soft and sweet but don’t let that fool you. This song definitely packs an emotional punch along with a staggering amount of creativity and thought. Stylistically, I really don’t know how to explain this song. It’s equal parts Midwest emo and indie pop but with an almost math rock vibe to some of the guitar work and an almost folk story-telling style to the vocals. All of these elements come together to form “chapstick”– a song that will make you feel everything all at once. autofictions is a solo project of Brooklyn-based Josh Davidoff in collaboration with multi-instrumentalist producer Carl Michnovicz. This is probably the first you’re hearing of this project as it was for me but, I assure you, it won’t be the last song you see my share from this amazing project.
