I’m back on track with my day and it feels great. Well, it felt great until I peeked at the clock and realized that, per usual, time is slipping away. This realization has me even more frantic and manic than I had already been so I need to level out. I know I just took a break to share a new song with you but I could use another one so let’s dig into “Jenny” from King Tide.
Right off the bat, this song hit me as bright, infectious, and fun. That’s standard and definitely fit what I was looking for but, as I listened to the lyrics of this anthemic track, I realized the depth of King Tide and it had me floored. This song is a track dedicated to those affected by the opiate crisis. To those who have lost their lives, those who have survived, and those who are still struggling. Opiates have touched all of our lives in one way or another and the way that King Tide addresses that in “Jenny” is truly beautiful, touching, and heartfelt. Add the fast-paced and up-beat brand of skate punk that King Tide does so well and you are left with a two minute song that will surely leave you wanting more from this Southern California-based band.
