Girl at the Rock Shows

I’m definitely riding the high of seeing Limp Bizkit right now. Honestly, it’s all that’s keeping me going with how tired and lowkey sick I’m feeling and I know that that high is going to wear off sooner rather than later so time to bulk up on some tracks that will continue to get me through the day and “Hide” from Neverlyn is the perfect track for this.

“Hide” is the first song from Neverlyn in almost four years and, within the first few seconds, I couldn’t help but question why a band this solid would ever take a break. There’s a heavy feeling in the lyrics of this track that is juxtaposed perfectly by the upbeat yet slightly aggressive instrumentation. This song edges into the post-hardcore side of things while staying somewhat planted in a more old-school emo-pop-punk scene. It’s the perfect balance of angst and beauty all tied up in a bow of flawless production and mastering. Neverlyn may have taken a hiatus but one listen to this song will surely make this Livermore, California-based band a new favorite of yours and leave you excited for what the future holds for this group.
