Girl at the Rock Shows

We all need to remind ourselves from time to time that we are worth it. We are worth that raise, that day off, that love, that hug, that high-five, that flattering comment– we are worth it. I feel like in this day and age, it’s easy to get in our own heads and feel like you just aren’t good enough but We Know John is here with their song “Screw You Mary-Lou” to remind you just how awesome you are.

Obviously, this is a ska song. I mean, the positivity of that intro should have told you that but, in case you didn’t catch on, this is your warning that blaring horns and fun times are ahead but they don’t last long so buckle up and hold on. This minute and a half long song is full of triumphant joy. From the blazing horns to the upbeat beat to the super bright and sunny vocals and lyrics, “Screw You Mary-Lou” will leave you with your fist in the air and a smile that easily stretches from ear to ear. Although it’s a quick little bop, I love that the band has clearly put some thought into the composition of the track giving you a clear path of where this song is going until it suddenly stops. “Screw You Mary-Lou” could have been a seventeen minute song and it still would not have been enough for me but, luckily, this Southampton-based band has more material out there so, if you love this, make sure to check out everything else We Know John has out there!
