Girl at the Rock Shows

Happy Monday, everyone! I hope you all had an amazing weekend. My was absolutely fantastic but the constant going and insane shows I had over the weekend has me dragging pretty hard this morning. If you’re like me and are struggling to stop from yawning and are already dreaming of that epic nap you’re going to take after work, let me suggest checking out “Chiaroscuro” from Jacob Bennett to give you a slight kick in the butt.

The lyrics of “Chiaroscuro” are what really drew me into this song. It starts with a slow and ambient intro before Jacob’s smooth but edgy vocals come in and take this song off to a world that you will never want to leave. It’s very Laura Jane Grace meets Frank Turner. It’s that slight punk edge in a more folksy singer-songwriter vintage that makes Jacob’s sound and style stand out to me but, as mentioned, is the lyrics that made me stay. Obviously, I’m not going to give it away and know that the title of this tracks does little to tell you what it’s about but I promise that you can devote three minutes of your busy day to this track and those minutes will be far from wasted. Although this isn’t a particularly rockin’ or upbeat track, I love the raw energy that seeps through with every beat. It’s that energy and the juxtaposition against the chillness of this track that makes it the perfect way to get your week started.
