Girl at the Rock Shows

I thought I was in the mood for heavy and intense today but, it ends up, I’m more in the move for some indie rock. I’m not sure what it is but carefree songs with a little bop behind them and a whole lot of heart are just really helping me stay focused and positive so “WARTIME!” from Roger Songbird is fitting my current vibe so perfectly.

Okay, I know the title of this song is “yelling” at you but, really, “WARTIME!” has a very laid back and smoky haze about it that gives the track a true sense of swagger. Edgy and distorted guitars drive this track forward while the highly-energetic but somehow oddly slurred vocals delicately bring a sense of attitude to the track. From gang vocals to simple sounding yet very impactful guitar licks, this song had me hooked instantly and is one of those songs that, every time I listen to it, I hear something different. Think a grittier version of Kings of Leon with more punk leaning vocals at time and an almost classic and vintage hue covered over the whole thing and you can kind of imagine what this song is like but, really, screw that. Just listen to this track. “WARTIME!” from Roger Songbird is one of those songs that’s just easier to hear than try to read about.
