Girl at the Rock Shows

When I saw Oddysseys at The 7th Street Entry in January, I fell in love. I fell in love with the unique sound of this band and the members themselves. Their sound was so cool as it was this unique blend of post-punk with a new-wave feel. It was unlike anything I had ever heard before and, after interacting with the band and realizing that they are some of the sweetest humans on the planet, I quickly became obsessed with the group. Oddysseys just release their new single “Cerbie” and, in case you are sleeping on this band, this would be the perfect time to jump on their train.

Oddysseys wastes no time drawing you into their world. “Cerbie” starts off with their signature larger-than-life sound. “Cerbie” is titled after the mythological being that guards the underworld and I love how that darkness translates into this song. It’s dark and synth-heavy but it’s catchy and has a sense of accessibility that can not be ignored. There’s a sense of slight desperation in this song that comes mostly from the driving energy of the track but, at the same time, the vocals keep this song from going too dark. The beat in “Cerbie” is infectious and will make you want to move but, again, their unique blend of sounds will keep you intrigued and captured in their world. Oddysseys is one of those hard working kinds of bands that is constantly grinding, writing, producing, and touring so let’s show them a massive amount of love so they know that their hard work is not going unnoticed and, if they come anywhere near you, drop everything and go see them live. I promise you won’t be disappointed.
