It has been a hot minute since I’ve seen Beach Weather’s name and that’s a shame. The last time I saw them was back in May of 2017 when they played at The Skyway Theater. I was in love with them but then fell off their wagon for some reason. I honestly have no explanation for it but, after hearing their brand new song “Hardcore Romance”, the spark has been relit and I am back to being obsessed with this group.
“Hardcore Romance” is sultry and full of swagger but also full of Beach Weather’s distinct alt-rock vibe that is infectious. I like how this song is dark but there’s also something ridiculously danceable about the song at the same time. The beat is strong and the sweltering guitar work mirrors the slightly gritty but perfectly polished vocals in a super unique way. The third single off of Beach Weather’s album ‘Melt’ (set for release on October 25th), “Hardcore Romance” has something about it that is hard to put your finger on. It’s just one of those songs that seems to take over your heart and soul upon first listen. The dramatic video only enhances the overall vibe of this track so, if you have a chance, don’t just listen to the song, watch the video. It will fill you with life even if, like me, you are struggling to really get into the grind of your day.
