teepee – “Broken Silence” – Girl at the Rock Shows

Happy Tuesday and, more importantly, happy fall! The crisp air is doing wonders for my mental health right now. I know it sounds bizarre but I’m a winter-lover (hence why I live in Minnesota) so even though this little taste of fall isn’t supposed to last, it has me feeling all cozy and ready for the onslaught of snow and cold weather. It also has me in the mood to get a million and twelve things done today so let’s just jump right into a full day of new music starting with “Broken Silence” from teepee.

teepee is a dream-pop duo with a larger than life kind of sound but it’s not larger than life in the aggressive way. This song is absolutely stunning. It’s honestly three and a half minutes of pure bliss as the waves of sound wash over your heart and soul. There’s nothing rushed, nothing intense, and nothing heavy about this track which, I know, is a weird way for me to kick a Tuesday off, but there’s just so much beauty and comfort in this song that it’s absolutely hitting the spot for me. This soundscape created by teepee in “Broken Silence” is lush and dreamy with a slight haze cast over the song as a whole. The vocals are strong and capture your ear but, at the same time, they are quiet and just seem to soothe even the most restless of souls. Even if you think you’re in the mood for something heavy and intense to get your Tuesday started, I highly suggest you check this song out. It may surprise you how well this song sets you up for success on what is surely to be a busy day.
