I like to think that, when I drink, I become “Adoringly Drunk” but, the truth is, I just become a mess. That being said, The Criticals’ first single from their debut album is not about me but that isn’t stopping me from enjoying the crap out of this flawless track.

The Criticals is made up of two boys from rural Tennessee who flew to England for a couple of months to make an album with producer Jonathan Gilmore. “Adoringly Drunk” is the first single to come from that album and I love the fact that you can feel both sides of this group’s world collide in this song. It’s gritty and raw when it comes to the presentation of the track but the overall sound comes off as perfectly polished and well-rehearsed. There’s a jangle in this track that will surely get stuck in your head upon first listen. Add the infectious chorus and you are left with the kind of song that, even after just one listen, you will find yourself humming along to out of nowhere. Stylistically, this is very indie-pop-rock and I love the brightness that comes with it. Another thing I really love is the ending. Out of nowhere, this song ramps up and turns into something a bit more intense and aggressive (while still laying in the indie-pop-rock world of things). It’s genius and definitely something you just have to hear for yourself.
